Extract from kitten contract

If you would like to see the kitten contract in full, please feel free to email me. That the Purchaser(s) agrees to and understand(s) the following conditions:


(a) The kitten shall not be wilfully destroyed, except as to allow humane destruction by a veterinary surgeon in the case of medical emergency or terminal illness.

(b) The kitten shall not be sold or leased to any business, establishment, organisation, person or persons. The kitten shall not be sold or given to any pet shop, animal shelter, research laboratory or similar facility.

(c) In the event of the Purchaser(s) being unable or unwilling to maintain the kitten before it reaches the age of six months, the Purchaser(s) shall return the kitten to the Vendor for repossession. The Purchaser(s) shall be responsible for paying the expenses involved in returning the kitten to the Vendor. If the kitten is in a similar state of health and well-being to when it was sold, or if it is unwell, but has received adequate medical care, the Vendor will pay a refund or percentage thereof, less expenses, to the Purchaser(s) as follows:

100%- if the kitten is returned to the Vendor within 14 days of purchase.
75%- if the kitten is returned to the Vendor within 28 days of purchase.
30%- if the kitten is returned to the Vendor after 28 days of purchase but before the kitten reaches six months of age.

(d) In the event of the Purchaser(s) being unable or unwilling to maintain the kitten after it has reached six months of age, the Purchaser(s) shall immediately inform the Vendor that the kitten needs to be re-homed. The Vendor reserves the right to repossess the kitten without any refund of the purchase price. If the Vendor chooses not to repossess the kitten, the Vendor may elect instead to assist the Purchaser(s), if assistance is required, to find a suitable new pet home for the kitten. The kitten shall be given and not sold to the new owner. Prior to re-homing the kitten, the Purchaser(s) shall give the address and contact details of the new owner to the Vendor, and shall obtain the Vendor’s written permission to re-home the kitten to the selected new owner. The Vendor reserves the right to withhold this permission without stating reasons

(f) The Vendor shall be informed within 1 week of the date of purchase, of the state of health and wellbeing of the kitten. The Vendor shall be updated on the kitten’s state of health and wellbeing at least once a year after it is twelve months old.

(g) The Vendor shall be informed within 30 days of the Purchaser(s) relocating, of their new address and contact details.

(h) The Purchaser(s) shall keep the kitten indoors only, or allow the kitten access to an escape-proofed garden or purpose built outdoor run. The kitten
shall only be taken outside of the house and escape-proofed areas in a suitable carrier, or properly restrained on a harness and leash.

(i) The Purchaser(s) shall inform a reliable person or family member of my details and inform them that if required, I will assist or take full responsibility in re-homing the kitten, in the event of the Purchaser(s) death or incapacitation.
